Brisbane/IBNS: The first day's play in the third Test between India and Australia was called off due to rain at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday.

Australia scored 28 without losing a wicket in 13.2 overs when rain stopped the play.

The play will resume on Sunday.

The hosts were sent to bat first this morning by India captain Rohit Sharma who banked on the overcast weather.

"We're going to bowl first. Little bit overcast and a little bit of grass, looks a bit soft as well, we want to make best use of the conditions," said the India captain at the toss.

India have introduced two changes to their side by bringing in pace bowler Akash Deep and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja in place of Harshit Rana and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Australia captain Pat Cummins said he too would have gone Rohit's way had he won the toss.

Cummins brought back his pace bowler Josh Hazlewood who replaced Scott Boland.

After a comprehensive win in the second Test in Adelaide, Australia squared the five-match series 1-1.
