Blackwood departs after scoring a brisk fifty, India firmly at top

Kingston, July 30 (IBNS): After conceding the first Test match of the four match series, home side West Indies are under pressure in the second one, losing four batsmen already, here on Saturday, day one of the second Test match against India.

At lunch, the Caribbean team have put up 88 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Earlier in the day, West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bat first in a pitch that looked good for bowling.

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper was happy to lose the toss as he said that he would have bowled first and his bowlers did deliver the goods in the first hour of the day's play.

Ishant Sharma swung the ball both ways to cause havoc upfront. His brace dented the Caribbean top order as he accounted for Kraigg Brathwaite (1) and Darren Bravo (0) in successive deliveries.

If Brathwaite was done by a short ball, Bravo fell for an outswinger that caught the edge of his bat. Virat Kohli completed the formalities by taking a sharp catch at second slip.

Mohammad Shami, the wrecker-in-chief for India in the first innings of the first Test match, dealt another blow as he picked up Rajendra Chandrika (5), who too poked at a delivery leaving him.

A counter attacking Jermaine Blackwood provided some relief for his side as he hit a couple of sixes and a handful of fours to score a brisk fifty.

However, Blackwood (62) fell just before lunch, trapped by Ashwin.

Marlon Samuels, who took 30 balls to open his account is at the crease, unbeaten at 14 runs with Roston Chase, who's unbeaten at 0.
