Kolkata/IBNS: In a major boost for the local players, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Thursday announced the introduction of impact player rule in the forthcoming J.C. Mukherjee and N.C. Chatterjee trophy matches scheduled to start in the first week of April.

"As we all know that the BCCI has started the impact player rule in the domestic tournament.

"On the basis of that, we will introduce this rule in the J.C. Mukherjee and N.C. Chatterjee trophy to get accustomed with the new system," CAB president Snehashish Ganguly said during a press meet.

Ganguly further announced that the Senior Women's District tournament, scheduled to take place in May, will have 18 districts participating, along with two teams from Kolkata - CAB President's XI and CAB secretary XI.

In addition to this, the CAB will also organise a trial selection process in the city to select 30 new women cricketers who will make their entry into the 10-team women's tournament to take place in Kalyani and Barasat. Previously, it was an eight-team affair.

Ganguly announced that the final of the ongoing Mayor's Cup will be played over two days in a pink ball under lights.

Also the College tournament will make a comeback after a gap of two years along with the zone-wise Under-14 women's tournament.
