BCTA is only private ground selected for U- 17 FIFA World Cup 2017 practice session

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IBNS): The Baptist Church Association (BCTA) ground has been selected for the under17 FIFA World 2017.

It is the only private ground which has been selected for the purpose. The amenities at the BCTA Ground are nothing short of world class with the FIFA inspection team expressing their immense satisfaction with the ground earlier, according to a release by BCTA

The team from Columbia, USA, India, and Ghana are to practice here at BCTA ground.

The World Cup, which is historic for India, will kick start in New Delhi from Oct 6, with their training session is to take place on Oct 5th. The twenty-four team event will see a total of fifty-two games played over the space of twenty-two days across six venues in India. The FIFA matches which are scheduled to take place in Delhi, it is decided that their practice session are to take place at BCTA ground along with other. The other selected practice grounds are Delhi Rugby ground, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium practice ground.

“We are privileged to announce that Our BCTA Ground has been selected for U-17 World Cup Practice Session. It’s a matter of great pride for us for which we are thankful to the selectors. We will leave no stone unturned to make the practice session a successful one,” Sumeet Nath,  Secretary-Treasurer, BCTA.

Currently, BCTA is in association with Sudeva Moonlight Football club, a semi-professional football club based in Delhi provide training to budding football players across the country. Many underprivileged children's are being trained at free of cost at BCTA's ground situated at New Delhi.

"As a football player, I am excited to feel the presence of International players in our own premises. It is happening in my life only because of  BCTA and Sudeva, as I have come from a very nominal background" says Thoiba one of the emerging football players of Sudeva Moonlight football club belongs from a small village of Manipur.       

Despite being a practice arena BCTA ground fulfills all the FIFA's  criteria for the main arena where the international match to be played. Initially, the ground was a dump yard, BCTA converts it into a ground equipped with International facilities.
