Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed has confirmed her presence at Eden Gardens to watch the historic day-night Test match between India-Bangladesh on November 22 respond to BCCI's president Sourav Ganguly.

She told reporters in Dhaka on Tuesday said that '' I am coming only because of an invite from a Bengali”.

“Sourav Ganguly was an exceptional cricketer. When he took over as the first Bengali BCCI president, he immediately wanted to speak to me and we spoke over the phone. He gave me an invitation to be present at the beginning of the match. I agreed,” Hasina told in a press conference at Gano Bhaban, her official residence in Dhaka.

"I am not going on the invitation of the PM or the CM. A Bengali has invited another Bengali for a cricket match," The Bangladesh PM said.

Sources here said the Bangla PM would come in Kolkata on November 22 for the 2nd Test match between India and Bangladesh and return to her country on the said day after watching proceeding on the first day of the 5-day Test.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has agreed to play day-night Test for the first time against India after BCCI newly elected chief Sourav Ganguly sent a formal invitation to Dhaka requesting to start with a pink ball at Eden Gardens. Ganguly's invitation to BCB followed after Indian skipper Virat Kohli's consent to play day-night Test to attract more fans.

Ganguly also sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be at Eden Gardens on the first day. But it was unlikely Modi would make for his preoccupation, sources at CAB ( Cricket Association of Bengal) the host of 2nd test said. The CAB, however, has been in constant touch with the PMO office.
