AUSvIND: Rain plays spoilsport, 1st T20I ends in heartbreaking washout

Canberra/IBNS: The first T20I match between India and Australia was washed out due to rain at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday.

India scored 97-1 in 9.4 overs when the match was called off completely due to rain.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill were batting at 39 and 37 respectively.

Suryakumar had raised the eyebrows of cricket experts by picking two pacers and three spinners in his bowling line-up.

Three spinners- Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy- were in the bowling unit alongside pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana.

Prior to this T20I series, the hosts had won the ODI series.
