Ashes: England's Craig Overton ruled out off Boxing Day Test with fractured rib

London, Dec 24 (IBNS): England seamer Craig Overton has been ruled out of the Boxing Day Test against Australia with a fractured rib.

Overton sustained the injury in the third Test at the WACA in Perth having previously received a blow to the same area during the second Test in Adelaide, the England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement.

The 23-year-old Somerset man made his debut at the Adelaide Oval and claimed Australia captain Steve Smith as his first Test wicket.

His injury means England will have to make at least one change to the side that played in Perth, with Jake Ball, Mason Crane, Tom Curran and Mark Wood potential additions to the team.

Australia bowler Mitchell Starc, the leading wicket-taker in the series, will also miss the fourth Test due to a heal injury and will be replaced by Jackson Bird.
