12th SAG OC will set up two Tikhor Parks in Guwahati and Shillong

Guwahati, Mar 1 (IBNS): The Organizing Committee of 12th South Asian Games has earmarked Rs 2 crore for Tikhor Parks ( Games Mascot) to be set up in Guwahati and Shillong.


In a statement, the Organizing Committee said that Tikhor Parks are being proposed to be set up  to preserve the  legacy of the 12th South Asian Games held recently in Guwahati and  Shillong.

It is proposed that these parks would be set up at  Guwahati University and NEHU, Shillong,

“The Executive Committee of 12th OC, SAG-2016, at the special meeting held on February 14 at Guwahati had decided that the legacy of the Games needs to be preserved and the Tikhor (Mascot) Park may be set up at Guwahati University and NEHU, Shillong, in commemoration of the Games,” an official of the Organizing committee said.

In pursuance of the above mentioned decision, it was decided to earmark Rs 2 crore out of the savings of SAG-2016 (including contributions by CPSUs) for this purpose, which has been approved by Chairman, OC SAG.
