UK's Sam Mendes wins Golden Globe as best film director for '1917'

Moscow/Sputnik/UNI: UK film director Sam Mendes won the Golden Globe award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) as the best director for his movie "1917" during a ceremony on Sunday.

"Congratulations to Sam Mendes - Best Director - Motion Picture - 1917," the Golden Globe Awards wrote on Twitter.
