Sreeja Dutta, Gourab Chatterjee's music video ahead of Durga Puja gives call for change of perspective towards women

Kolkata/IBNS: At the onset of Durga Puja, SVF Music has unveiled a hard-hitting music video which throws light on deep emotional and societal concerns- particularly the silence around domestic abuse, and the devastating impact of false rumours.

Amar Mon Maney Na, which carries the melody of Rabindranath Tagore, reflects the strength of the human spirit even in the darkest of times.

Arindom has both sung the song as well as is behind the music design.

At the heart of Amar Mon Maney Na is the story of Uma, a young woman forced into a marriage with Girish, a much older man, by her family. Life in the grandeur of a rich Zamindar household, however, proves anything but glamorous for Uma, as she silently endures the abuses of her violent husband. The plot takes an emotional turn when Dhiren, Girish’s younger brother and Uma’s childhood friend, returns after years of studying abroad.

In a twist that feels both tender and tragic, Dhiren initially fails to recognize Uma until a cherished memento stirs memories of their past friendship. What starts as a reunion of hearts is soon torn apart by jealousy and rumor. False accusations of an affair, spread by Uma’s envious sister-in-law, fuel Girish’s violent rage, leading to Dhiren’s imprisonment and further torment for Uma.

Commenting on her maiden collaboration SVF, Sreeja, who plays Uma, says, " The concept behind this project isn’t just another music video; it tackles multiple important social issues, offering more than just entertainment, it conveys a powerful message."

"The subject matter, particularly domestic violence against women, is prevalent. Many individuals, across various sectors and segments of society, experience this issue, whether they realize it or not, and this video highlights that reality. This project will always hold a special significance for me for all the right things," said Gourab, who plays Dhiren.

Apart from Sreeja and Gourab, the music video features Avrajit Chakraborty, who plays Girish.

The music video is streaming on SVF Music YouTube channel and other audio platforms from October 7.
