Southern megastar Rajinikanth completes 44 years in Indian cinema, fans wish him

Chennai, Aug 18 (IBNS): One of India's biggest megastars, Rajinikanth, who has been entertaining his fans for decades, completed 44 years of his working life in the world of Indian cinema as fans paid rich tributes to their icon on the social media.

A hashtag #44YrsofUnmatchableRAJINISM is currently trending on Twitter. The hashtag was trending at the number one position in India when this report was filed.

From celebrities to netizens, all joined the moment of celebration and posted messages greeting their matinee idol on Sunday.

He made his cinematic debut with K. Balachander's 1975 Tamil drama Apoorva Raagangal, in which he played a minor role of an abusive husband.

He had his first major role in Balachander's Telugu drama film Anthuleni Katha (1976), and got his breakthrough in Tamil with Moondru Mudichu (1976)- also directed by Balachander.

In 1977, he acted in 15 films, playing negative characters in most of them, including Avargal, 16 Vayathinile, Aadu Puli Attam and Gaayathri.

His first solo performance was seen in 1978-released movie Bairavi.

The stylish star then went ahead and became one of the biggest names in Tamil cinema.

The actor, whose movie releases are celebrated as a mega event by his fans, will next be seen in AR Murugadoss's upcoming film called Darbar.

It will release next year.
