Kolkata, Sept 23 (IBNS) Joining her 'Praktan' co-star Prosenjit Chatterjee, Bengali film actress Rituparna Sengupta has also become a part of the elite club of producers with a rom com titled 'Potadar Kirti'.

'Potadar Kirti', a laugh riot starring Bollywood actor Priyangshu Chatterjee and Bangladeshi hero and Rituparna's long-term friend Ferdous Ahmed, contains the flavour of the lost era of 80s' Bengali comedy when several stalwarts were around.

"I had decided to produce this film to give back the rapidly vanishing comedy traditions in Bengali households as I am hurt the way people are losing the ability to laugh at themselves," Rituparna tells IBNS informing 'Potadar Kirti' is doing well at theatres.

"This is a laugh riot in mainstream genre to allow the audience forget their stresses and laugh heartily for over two hours," she says revealing her plan to produce few more films.

"I want to gift something new to the Bengali audiences," Rituparna says.

Rituparna had earlier acted as line producer for two films by veteran Bengali film director Tarun Majumder - one of which is awaiting release.

The 'Paromitar Ekdin' actor said,"Yes, while Tarunda is a father figure whom I would support always, I also believe in encouraging the young directors in their new feature films - from Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay-Nandita Roy (Muktodhara) to Bauddhayan Mukherjee (Teenkahon), to Ariziet Halder (John) in Aro Ekbar, to Reshmi Mitra (Mukti) and likewise."

Ferdous, who had acted in 25-30 films in with Rituparna, says he did not wish to hear anything else about the character or story when Rituparna approached him.

"I know Rituparna ever since I came to the industry," Ferdaus says.

"I have made a special appearance in this film," Ferdaus says.
