Chennai/UNI: Actors Rajinkanth and Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) Founder Kamal Haasan today released video messages in support of the Nation-wide Janata Curfew called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow to combat coronavirus.

Rajini, in a video address, said with the Prime Minister calling for Janata Curfew tomorrow, India prepares to avoid crucial Stage-3 community transmission of Corona virus in the country.

"Italy tried implementing similar nation-wide curfew to prevent Stage-3, but due to the lack of support from the citizens, the efforts failed, resulting in the death of thousands of people to the pandemic," Rajini said.

"We don't want such a crisis in India and I urge everyone to rise to the occasion and participate in the Janata curfew by strictly staying indoors and practising social distancing," he added.

"In these crucial times let us also remember and thank the selfless service of all the doctors, nurses and medical workers by participating in the nation-wide appreciation and prayers at 5.PM tomorrow," Rajini said.

Kamal, in an awareness video, urged the people to support the Prime Minister's call by staying indoors and spending the time in a useful manner.

He advised them to read books, spend time with the elders and share stories.

Urging the people to stay indoors for the next one week to prevent spread of virus, the actor-politician said, ”Our life is very precious. Let's stay indoor and spend time with our children. Share your stories to them.”

The two-minute video featureed Kamal telling people that they need healthy body to earn their livelihood and take care of their families. For that, they should stay in their house for the next few days.

Earlier, in a tweet, Kamal said he will stand in solidarity with Modi.

”I stand in full solidarity with our Prime Ministers call for #JantaCurfew. In this extraordinary situation, we have to take extraordinary measures. It's a disaster that has befallen on us and by staying united and indoors, we can Stay Safe. I call upon my fans, my friends and my people in support of the cause on Sunday, 7 am to 9 pm (sic),” he said.
