Kolkata/IBNS: The teaser of the much-anticipated teaser of Devi Chowdhurani starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee was unveiled on Wednesday.

The film, based on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic literary masterpiece, is directed by Subhasjit Mitra. It promises to bring to the silver screen a timeless tale of courage, justice, and rebellion against oppression.

While Prosenjit plays Bhavani Charan Pathak, Srabanti transforms into the indomitable Prafulla/Devi Chowdhurani, portraying the journey of a simple village woman into a fearless leader of a revolution.

The teaser offers a glimpse into a grand cinematic vision — breathtaking landscapes, powerful dialogues, intense action sequences, and the emotional depth of a story rooted in Bengal’s socio-political history.

Subhrajit Mitra’s direction, combined with meticulous period detailing, promises a visual spectacle and a narrative that resonates across generations.

Talking about the teaser, Subhrajit Mitra said, "The teaser of Devi Chowdhurani is finally out — a grand-scale magnum opus and the first Indo–UK co-production, produced by Adited Motion Pictures and Lok Arts Collective, presented and produced by Aparna Dasgupta and Aniruddha Dasgupta along with Soumyojit Majumdar. We’ve worked with complete honesty, and this teaser is just a glimpse. The audience response has been overwhelming.

"Many, including Bumba Da, have even called it a “commercial classic” — and that is truly gratifying. This is my first release after the National Award, featuring historic figures like Devi Chowdhurani and Bhavani Pathak, with music by Bikram Ghosh. This Puja, it’s truly Devi for Devi Chowdhurani."

Prosenjit Chatterjee adds "Playing Bhavani Pathak in Devi Chowdhurani has been truly special. It’s an honour to be part of a Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay classic. Bhavani Pathak is both a devoted follower of Maa Kali and a fearless revolutionary — a combination I tried to bring alive with sincerity and depth.

"It’s inspiring to see the younger generation reviving such timeless characters, keeping Bengal’s heritage alive. Our director has done remarkable work, and Srabanti’s performance is equally praiseworthy. We had an amazing time making this film, and I hope the audience feels the same love and passion in every frame as we did."

Bikram Ghosh’s music adds another layer of grandeur and emotion, seamlessly blending powerful orchestration with soul-stirring melodies that capture the spirit of the story.

The film also stars Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Arjun Chakraborty, Darshana Banik, Bibriti Chatterjee, Kinjal Nanda, Bharat Kaul, Alexx O'Nell in pivotal roles.

Produced by Adited Motion Pictures and Lok Arts Collectives, Devi Chowdhurani is slated for a grand release this Durga Puja.
