Mumtaz working in Telugu version of ''Sala Khadoos'

"South is something which overwhelms you, the budget is multiple times higher than the Bengali film industry and you will also be touched by their professionalism," Mumtaz, daughter of magician P C Sorcar (junior) tells IBNS at the premier of Teenanko where she is pitted with the formidable Rituparna Sengupta.

“I will  be seen in  Victory Venkatesh starrer sport drama ‘Guru’ and busy with shuttling between Kolkata-Hyderabad."

"Shooting is progressing at brisk pace under the direction of Sudhka Kongra. I had acted in its original Tamil version ‘Irudhu Suttru’ and Hindi version ‘Saala Khadoos’," Mumtaz informs.

She feels the turnover in Southern films is much higher and hence the producer-director never turn miserly during shoots.

Mumtaz, having recently done two substantial roles as Raktakarbi’s Nandini and an intrepid journalist in Teenanko , says she had been offered the role of a she-magician but did not like the role.

“If I take up any magician’s character, it should do justice to my understanding of the profession,” she says adding “from my family background, my profile, my acting repertoire, now it is clear Mumtaz will turn down any nonsensical-type role even if that comes from a big big production.”

Mumtaz, who does an abroad-based journalist’s role in Bithin Das' just-released Teenanko, said it has three separate time zones and she physically turns up in the part which is set in contemporary times but is related to all the three time periods.

There was a weird incident on set involving Rituparna she recalls "when the bed Ritudi was lying in caught fire all of a sudden."
