Michael biopic creates box office storm; Jaafar Jackson’s emotional message wins hearts

Actor Jaafar Jackson has thanked movie lovers for appreciating his performance in the titular role in the biopic Michael.

Taking to Instagram, Jackson expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response and love from audiences.

“Wow so incredible to see!! The world has spoken and everyone is showing out. Thank you thank you thank you!!! ❤️ I couldn’t be happier and more grateful,” he wrote.

Indian filmmaker Farah Khan also praised his performance in the comments section, writing, “Lovvvvdddd uuuuu❤️❤️❤️ u didn’t play Michael. U became him!”

According to a Variety report, the film has emerged as an instant box office sensation, earning $97 million domestically and $217 million worldwide during its opening weekend.

Michael is a 2026 biographical drama directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan. The film traces the life of Michael Jackson, from his early years with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to his iconic Bad tour in the late 1980s.

Michael Jackson is portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, while his childhood years are played by Juliano Krue Valdi, both making their film debuts.

The supporting cast includes Nia Long, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Laura Harrier, Jessica Sula, Mike Myers, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo.
