Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani dies

Kochi, Mar 6 (IBNS): Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani passed away at a hospital in Kochi on Sunday.

She was 45 when death came.

Dr. Sanjeev Singh, senior medical administrator at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences here, told The Hindu that the actor was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night with bleeding haematemesis (vomiting of blood).

The death occurred due to liver and kidney ailments, he told the newspaper.

He won the National Film Award andKerala State Film Award in 1999 for his performance as Ramu in Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quoted as saying in a tweet by PMO India: "A promising career is cut short. Kalabhavan Mani was multifaceted & popular. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family & fans."

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran tweeted: "An all time favourite film and one of it's best scenes! Shot this at 4 am..and we were singing between shots!"
