Love is a sweet feeling but a mixture of emotions: Debchandrima Singha Roy ahead of Preme Pora Baron release

| @indiablooms | Feb 13, 2024, at 05:31 pm

Young Bengali actress Debchandrima Singha Roy romances actor Andinya Sengupta in Addatimes' web series Preme Pora Baron, which premieres on Valentine's Day. IBNS correspondent Souvik Ghosh speaks to Debchandrima on the series, romance and travel goals

Q. Travelling is your hobby, how is that going?

A. Yes, travelling is the only hobby I have. I spend almost my entire money on travelling. My mother feels I am wasting my money (laughs).

Q. Do you still make sudden plans and leave for vacations?

A. Exactly the same. I have no pre-plans for travels. If I feel like going for a vacation, I just pack my bag and leave overnight. It is true that finding travel partners for such sudden trips is difficult. So I have to rely on my solo journeys.

Q. Did the title- Preme Pora Baron - resonate with you ever in your personal life?

A. No, not at all. There is no way to prevent falling in love. I feel love is a very sweet feeling. Why will it be a 'no' to it? There are a lot of people who are living happily being in love. Having said that, love is not just about living happily or having happy moments, it carries a number of emotions including sorrow, anger and suffering. All these emotions are parts of the journey.

Q. Could you relate to your character in the series?

A. I feel Mitul, my character, has no similarity with Debchandrima. Unlike myself, Mitul is very reserved, soft-spoken and someone who believes in the decisions taken by her parents. She believes whatever her parents decide for her is correct. I also believe my parents take decisions for my best interest but not at the cost of my independence.

I will place my own wishes if I have any. Unlike Mitul, I will also try to correct my parents if I feel they are saying something not right. Mitul can't express her feelings while I am very outspoken. I don't care about what people feel if I say the truth.

Q. So, how difficult was slipping into the character of Mitul?

A. I didn't get much time, actually. I got three days at the most to prepare for the character because the project was done in such a hurry. I just tried to think of how I would have reacted to the situations Mitul goes through.

Q. Can you be specific?

A. Firstly, I had to control my fast speaking. I had to consciously avoid it. Secondly, I walk very fast which I had to change. Moreover, I had to keep in mind using my eyes for expressions because the character is not loud and vocal.

Q. The series is premiering on Valentine's Day. What does Valentine's Day mean to you?

A. It was special for me when I was not intelligent in life (laughs). In childhood and teens, all the days in the Valentine's week carried heavy meanings. But now, it has no significance as such because of my work schedule. Probably, I will be shooting even on that day. But, love can be spread on any day of the year, not necessarily on Valentine's Day.

Moreover, I am not thinking of it at all because I am single in the best possible way. People, who are in relationships, may have all the fun.

Q. How do you respond to people commenting on your trips?

A. I have always maintained my stance of not replying to any of the comments. I don't need to give justifications to people. I spend my own hard earned money to travel so I don't feel bothered to reply. It is fine if someone asks out of curiosity but I have no reply to gossip. I have nothing to prove if I am travelling solo or not. In life, there will be some people who will gossip.
