Kolkata/IBNS: Critically acclaimed Tollywood filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly recently announced his next production, ‘Kaberi Antardhan’ (Disappearance of Kaberi), starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and set in the period of Indian Emergency declared by late Indira Gandhi for 18 months in 1975.

Interestingly, the announcement of the production was organised at the residence (known as Lal Bari for its red paint) of late West Bengal Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddhartha Shankar Ray house.

“Kaberi Antardhan is a romantic thriller and its story revolves around the disputed time when Emergency was declared in the country. The shooting of the film will mainly be done in the areas of North Bengal, and will cover the local markets, bazaars and roads. Lots of effort has been put by us in order to do a proper research of the era,” said Kaushik Ganguly addressing media.

Besides Kaushik Ganguly, Tollywood icon Prosenjit Chatterjee and popular actress Srabanti Chatterjee along with others were present at the press conference held in the living room of the late politician who was the chief minister of West Bengal during Indian Emergency.

“The story of a film should not always revolve around the common story of a Hero, Heroine and Villain but should also depict a common man’s character giving out a different aspect to the audience,” said Ganguly.

Speaking at the press conference, Srabanti said: "I have been a part of Surinder Films in the past as well and I am grateful to Kaushik Ganguly for considering me as a lead actress in Kaberi Antardhan. I have played the role of daughter of Prosenjit Chatterjee and I am really excited to play an altogether different role beside him in this film. I hope to receive all the love from the audience,”  she said.

The star cast features the Tollywood icon, Prosenjit Chatterjee along with Churni Ganguly, Srabanti Chatterjee, Ambarish Bhattacharya & Purab Seal Acharya among others.

Kaushik Ganguly has not only scripted and written the dialogues of Kaberi Antardhan but will also be playing a small role in the film.
