Guru Randhawa deactivates X handle after veiled attack on Diljit Dosanjh over Sardaar Ji 3 row
Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa has deactivated his X account after sharing a cryptic social media post which was believed to be aimed at singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh amid Sardaar Ji 3 row.
In an X post, Guru wrote, "Lakh pardesi hoyieee. Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie us da bura nhi mangi da. Even if now your citizenship is not Indian but you were born here pls remember this.
"This country made great artists and we all are proud of it. Pls be proud of where you were born. Just an advice. Now don't start controversy again and manipulate Indians LOL. PR bigger thn artist."
Diljit is facing a backlash in India over the featuring of Pakistani Hania Aamir in his upcoming film, Sardaar Ji 3 where he participated in the capacities of both actor and producer.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has slammed Diljit's decision to cast a Pakistani actress in his film, a horror-comedy slated for June 27 release.
The federation has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging strict actions against Diljit including cancellation of passports.
The (FWICE) called Diljit's action "willful affront to the sovereignty, dignity, and security of India".
Amid the row, Diljit has announced his upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3 will only release overseas amid the India-Pak bilateral tension.
The collaboration with Pakistan actors and technicians has been halted since the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 tourists at Baisaran Valley in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
