COVID 19 Outbreak: 2011 released Hollywood movie Contagion has gone viral in 2020

Los Angeles/IBNS: A Hollywood movie titled Contagion, which released in 2011, has suddenly earned the attention of global movie lovers due to the plot of the film which has an uncanny similarity with the situation the world is facing right now amid COVID 19 outbreak.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the film also deals with the story of a virus outbreak.

Its ensemble cast includes Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet. 

The movie was inspired by pandemics such as the 2003 SARS epidemic and the 2009 flu pandemic, as per the Wikipedia page of the movie.

Meanwhile, in a world hit by COVID19, film lovers have generated renewed interest in the movie.

Twitter is buzzing with references made to the film.

The plot of the film which revolves around a related outbreak of a virus has now become the most-watched film online, reported The Times of India.

One Twitter account user whose handle is named President Saleh said: "the 2011 movie ‘Contagion’ suddenly viral! It predicted the coronavirus."

Another Ramanan said, "An American film that was released in 2011 speaks of #CoronavirusOutbreak that begins spreading from China to the rest of the world! The name of the film is "Contagion" and it stars Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow & Kate Winslet. Yes it was prophetic!"

A man named Arora posted: "The movie name "CONTAGION" released in 2011. Everything in this movie resembles the #COVID19 outbreak."
