‘Widow of Silence’ is selected at International Film Festival Rotterdam, 2019

Mumbai, Dec 18 (IBNS): Director Praveen Morchhale’s ‘Widow of Silence’ is selected at International Film Festival Rotterdam, 2019 in Voice Section.

The films that are presented in Voices are driven by their powerful stories, their distinct characters, their captivating subjects and important themes. Each film brings a distinct viewpoint on the world we live in, told by filmmakers with a confident voice.

Widow of Silence had World Premiere at Busan International Film Festival in Oct 2018 in “A Window on Asian Cinema” section. In Nov 2018, it Won best Film Award (Indian Film Competition) at Kolkata International Film Festival. In Dec 2018, the film was in International competition section at International film Festival of Kerala. Director Praveen Morchhale was nominated at Busan International Film Festival 2018 for the Kim Jiseok Awards.



Sharing his thoughts on Widow of Silence being selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam, director Praveen Morchhale says,"I am so happy that a film on painful situations of half widows in Kashmir and their struggle to have a dignified life in society, has been invited to the one of the world’s most reputed festivals, International Film Festival Rotterdam.  It’s a recognition of cinema deeply rooted in the humanity."

Widow of Silence is director Praveen Morchhale’s third film post “Barefoot to Goa" (2013) and “Walking With The Wind" (2017). "Walking With The Wind" was his second film which screened at the competition as Camerimage, Sao Paulo IFF, Friborg IFF, Mumbai Film Fest, IFFI Goa. At IFFI Goa Walking With The Wind won prestigious ICFT - UNESCO Gandhi Medal award in International competition.

Widow of Silence is written, produced and directed by Praveen Morchhale and stars Shilpi Marwaha, Ajay Chourey, Noorjahan and Bilal.
