U.S. Consulate Kolkata celebrates Students Visa Day

The U.S. Consulate General Kolkata hosted Student Visa Day on Thursday (June 8, 2016), a day to give only student visas. U.S. Consul General Craig Hall congratulated the students who are now becoming members of the U.S. higher education community. Applicants were treated to a festive atmosphere resembling a college fair with activities, networking, and refreshments. The venue was decorated with banners, maps of the United States where students pinned their destination.

Infosys Jaipur Development Center (DC) is conducting the fourth edition of Spark Catch Them Young (CTY), a two-week program aimed at exposing bright high-school students to the world of Information Technology in the city. This decade long initiative by Infosys is designed to train Government and Private high school students through a summer vacation program at the Infosys’ campuses across the country. In order to ensure that students from high schools benefit from the program, the Spark Catch Them Young agenda is designed to focus on concepts relating to ICT and hands-on lab work. Kolkata, May 25 (IBNS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) march in Kolkata towards police headquarters Lalbazar to demand arrest of TMC corrupt leaders turned violent today as the activists and the cops clashed on Thursday. Many BJP leaders and activists were injured while they also set on fire to police vehicles. Police used teargas shells, water canons besides batons to disperse the mobs. Bombs also went off in the march. BJP MP Roopa Ganguly said her party workers were marching towards city Police headquarter to submit a deputation peacefully when they were attacked. Protesting several issues and to draw state government's attention towards their several demands, at least 11 Left peasants' and farmers' associations have called for a protest rally to West Bengal's secretariat building at Nabanna in Kolkata on Monday. Heavy police arrangements have been made before the rallies, which are scheduled to start at 1 pm, from several locations in Kolkata and its twin city Howrah.
