Srinagar, Jun 3 (UNI): A youth was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the outskirts of Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital, Srinagar, late Monday evening, official sources said.

They said gunmen fired upon a 32-year-old Sameer Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, resident of Khanmoh late this evening at Pantha Chowk in city outskirts. However, he was immediately rushed to SMHS hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Security forces and police immediately reached the spot and launched a massive hunt to nab the gunmen who had managed to escape under the cover of darkness after killing Wani.

Police has registered a case and initiated proceedings, they said.
