Yogi speaks to Udhav Thackeray over Palghar lynching

Lucknow/UNI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has spoken to his Maharashtra counterpart Udhav Thackeray and expressed his grief over the mob lynching of two sadhus of Juna Akhara and their driver in Palghar on Thursday night.

The UP CM, on Sunday, requested Mr Thackeray to take stern action against the culprits.

According to sources here on Monday, the Maharashtra CM has stated that several people have been rounded up and few arrests made.

The incident occurred when three men from Kandivali in Mumbai were heading towards Surat in a car to attend a funeral on Thursday night.

Their vehicle was stopped in Palghar district. The trio was dragged out of their car and beaten to death on suspicion of them being thieves.

The deceased were identified as saints of Juna Akhara Maharaj Kalpavruksha Giri (70), Maharaj Sushil Giri (35), and their car driver Nilesh Telgade (30).
