Zelenskyy's wish to India on I-day
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday wished India on Independence Day and expressed his hope that New Delhi will l contribute to efforts aimed at ending the war.
"Congratulations to the people of India, President @rashtrapatibhvn , and Prime Minister @narendramodi on the Independence Day!" Zelenskyy posted on X.
"This week we had a good, candid conversation with Prime Minister @narendramodi when I had an opportunity to personally convey my best wishes on this occasion," he said.
"Our nations share the experience of standing up for freedom and dignity, as well as the pursuit of peace and development. We hope that India will contribute to efforts aimed at ending the war, so that our freedom and sovereignty are truly secure," he said.
Zelenskyy said he is confident that the potential for mutually beneficial Ukraine–India cooperation lies ahead.
The mutually beneficial sectors include science, technology, trade, and culture.
Zelenskyy posted the remarks on X just hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump met in Alaska.
The leaders failed to reach a concrete agreement to end the ongoing Ukraine war, though both leaders concluded that the talks were productive.
During the press briefing, Putin described the talks as a "constructive atmosphere of mutual respect."
"Today's agreement will be the starting point not only for the solution in Ukraine, but will also help us bring back business…between Russia and the U.S.," Putin was quoted as saying during the briefing by Fox News.
Trump described the meeting as 'extremely productive'.
Speaking on the peace deal, he was quoted as saying by Fox News: "There were many, many points that we agreed on, most of them, I would say. A couple of big ones that we haven't quite gotten there, but we've made some headway."
