Will implement Minimum Income Guarantee if we come to power: Rahul Gandhi says in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Mar 12 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited Gujarat and attempted to targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his home turf and promised that Minimum Income Guarantee to the poor citizens will be implemented if his party forms the government after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

" I assure you that we will form the govt and we will provide Minimum Income Guarantee to the poor citizens," he said.

Gandhi targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said it is trying to divide the country.

"BJP is dividing the country into 2 parts. One for the 'suit-boot', where they get all the benefits. And the other for our farmers, labourers, youth who get Demonetisation and GabbarSinghTax," he said.

With an eye on the Lok Sabha polls and winning votes to return to power at the Centre, Rahul Gandhi earlier too promised that his party would ensure minimum income guarantee for every poor in the country if the Congress-led government is formed after the general elections this year.

In his Gandhinagar address, Gandhi also tried to corner Modi over the issue of job creation and said: "Unemployment is highest in 45 years. Youth are migrating to different parts of the country to find employment."

The rally will remain significant as it witnessed the debut speech by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She joined active politics recently.

From the issue of women safety to job creation, Priyanka Gandhi tried to attacked the PM on numerous issues in her first political rally staged in Narendra Modi's home turf.

"I realised that this country is built with love and harmony. I feel sad at the current situation of the country. There is no better nationalism than being aware. Your vote is your weapon," Priyanka said amid cheering crowd in Gandhinagar.

Priyanka raised the issue of job creation and said: "Someone made big promises in front you then what happened to the jobs?"

She urged voters to take the right decision while casting their votes during the Lok Sabaha polls that will be held from next month.

"Do not get distracted with unwanted issues. You should realise what benefits you, how you will get employment, how women can be safe. I appeal to you to take your decision with caution," she said.

Priyanka Gandhi was among the top Congress leaders who visited Gujarat to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting.
