New Delhi/UNI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) member Sayyad M Idris in connection with LeT West Bengal recruitment case on Tuesday.

According to the anti-terror probe agency officials, he is being produced before the Ld. Court, Uttara Kannada to seek his transit remand to produce him before Kolkata NIA Court.

Arrested accused Idris ,28, is a resident of Uttara Kannada, was part of various social media groups run by Pakistani-based LeT handlers in their effort to recruit individuals for sleeper cells of LeT and for furthering terrorist activities.

The case arose out of Baduria Police Station in West Bengal in March this year pertaining to Pakistan-based handlers belonging to proscribed terrorist outfit Laskar-e-Taiba using various social media platforms to radicalize and recruit vulnerable youth for sleeper cells, to propagate their ideology and for abetting and advocating unlawful activities.

The probe agency has already filed a charge sheet against accused Tania Parvin, a resident of Kolkata on September 10, the NIA said, adding that further investigation in the case is under progress.
