West Bengal: 5 killed in two road mishaps in Kolkata, Burdwan

Kolkata/Burdwan, Sept 16 (IBNS): Two deadly road accidents at two different locations in West Bengal killed at least five persons and left four others injured on Friday, reports said.

According to reports, violating traffic signal, an autorickshaw crashed into a public bus (Route: L 238) near Gauribari crossing under Ultadanga Police Station limits in north Kolkata in early morning.

Four passengers and the driver of the autorickshaw were seriously injured in the mishap and were taken to R.G.Kar hospital.

One of the injured, second year student of Jaipuria College- Puja Pal, was declared dead and four others are being threat there.

Police seized both the bus and auto, while the driver and conductor of the bus are still absconding, officials said.

Meanwhile, four members of a family, including a woman and two children, were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a truck at Bakshinagar area under Mangalkot Police Station limits in West Bengal's Burdwan district in the morning, reports said.

According to police reports, after losing control, a dumper rammed into the bike and four riders- Saiful Sheikh (26), Ismatara Bibi (32), Amina Khatun (10) and Aslam Mollah (8)- were killed on spot.

After the accident, locals set the dumper on fire and beat up its driver.

Later police went to the scene and arrested the driver, besides seizing the vehicle.
