We are nowhere in the game: Rahul Gandhi slams Centre over handling COVID-19 outbreak
Mumbai/IBNS: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed the Centre over the issue of handling COVID-19 and said India delayed the purchase of testing kits and now the stock is 'critically short'.
Gandhi said India is no where close to the game of fighting the disease.
"India delayed the purchase of testing kits & is now critically short of them. With just 149 tests per million Indians, we are now in the company of Laos (157), Niger (182) & Honduras (162). Mass testing is the key to fighting the virus. At present we are nowhere in the game," Gandhi said.

Meanwhile, Indian PM Narendra Modi earlier in the day extended the national lockdown till May 3.
Days after several states extended the lockdown, Modi during his morning address to nation on Tuesday said, "Following the advice of all states, we are extending the lockdown till May 3," and added, "strict enforcement of lockdown will be followed in the next one week."
Amid the deep economic crisis due to the lockdown, the Prime Minister has hinted at a phase-wise lifting of the lockdown which began initially on Mar 25.
"There should be no letup in the implementation of lockdown. All regions in the states will be monitored very closely on full compliance of the lockdown. Only those regions that will show no evidence of cases or its spread will be allowed restricted movements after Apr 20," said Modi.
Likewise all passenger trains, metros as well as flights will remain shut till May 3.
