Wanted criminal arrested in Delhi after shootout at Nehru Place

New Delhi, Feb 6 (IBNS) : The Delhi police arrested a wanted criminal following a shootout near a l,uxury hotel in south Delhi's Nehru Park early Monday, reports said.

The shootout took place at 2.30 am, when there were very few people in the area, a prominent commercial and business center in Delhi.

The criminal, Akbar, had a Rs. 25,000 reward on him.

He is  wanted in cases of attempted murder, robbery, theft and snatching, the reports said quoting police.

Acting on a tip off, police laid a trap for Akbar, who was in the area along with his associates.

According to police, Akbar and his associates fired 13 rounds when they, saw police.

Two policemen were shot, but they were not injured  because of their bullet proof jackets.

After the shooutout, Akbar was arrested, but his accomplice Arif escaped with few others of the gang.
