'Waiting for permission from Mohsin Naqvi': BJP slams Rahul and Congress for not congratulating Team India over Asia Cup win

New Delhi/IBNS: In more political ramifications of Team India's Asia Cup 2025 final victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed the Congress and its top leader Rahul Gandhi for no congratulatory message for Team India who won the title beating Pakistan by five wickets on Sunday.

BJP IT Cell spokesperson Amit Malviya questioned the Congress' silence over India's Asia Cup triumph while the nation is basking in glory.

Malviya wrote on X, "It seems India’s stunning win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final has left Rahul Gandhi and the entire Congress in a comatose state. Just like after #OperationSindoor, when they couldn’t bring themselves to congratulate the Indian Army for its stupendous strikes, they now appear to be waiting for permission from Mohsin Naqvi and their other handlers in Pakistan before joining the nation in celebrating the Indian cricket team’s success.

"Put that aside — not even a single social media post from Congress congratulating our national team for thrashing Pakistan thrice in the tournament and bringing the Asia Cup home. Once again, Pakistan, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress find themselves on the same side of the divide."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi jibed at Pakistan while congratulating Team India for winning the Asia Cup.

Modi reminded Pakistan of Operation Sindoor, a military action against terrorism in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

In an X post, the Prime Minister wrote, "#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers."

Operation Sindoor was conducted from May 7 to 10 by the Indian Armed Forces to bust the terrorist hideouts in Pakistan.

Tilak Varma's unbeaten 69- backed by Shivam Dube's 33 and Sanju Samson's 24- helped India survive the initial Pakistan bowling scare and clinch the Asia Cup title on Sunday.

India (150-5) chased down the target of 147 with two balls to spare.

A massive drama unfolded after India sealed the victory as the cricketers- who refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts in the three matches they played against each other in the tournament- didn't turn up to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also happens to be the Pakistan Interior Minister.

After India boycotted the presentation ceremony, Naqvi departed and also took the trophy and other medals with him, triggering a fresh faceoff between the countries that played the matches in this Asia Cup in the shadow of Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
