Vladimir Putin, Antony Blinken, Emmanuel Macron wish India on Independence Day

New Delhi: Prominent world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Tuesday greeted India as the country celebrated 77th Independence Day on Tuesday.

In his message to India, Putin said Russia puts great importance on the relations of the special and privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi.

"I am confident that with joint efforts we will further enhance fruitful bilateral cooperation in all areas and constructive partnership in solving topical issues of regional and global agenda," Putin said.

"This, undoubtedly, meets the core interests of our friendly nations and contributes to the security and stability of the planet," he said.

"Sincerely wish the best of health and every success to you as well as happiness and well-being – to all Indian citizens," Putin said.

French President Emmanuel Macron also greeted India and tweeted: "Congratulations to the Indian people on your Independence Day!"

He said: " A month ago in Paris, my friend @narendramodi and I set new Indo-French ambitions all the way to 2047, the centenary year of India’s Independence. India can count on France as a trusted friend and partner, always."

He also separately posted another message on X platform in Hindi to wish India on Independence Day.

US State Secretary Antony Blinken greeted India and said the relationship between the two countries has currently reached a deeper and more expansive state than ever.

Blinken said in a statement: "On behalf of the United States of America, we send our warmest wishes to the people of India as they commemorate 76 years of independence this August 15."

"On this momentous day, we reflect on the depth and breadth of our strategic partnership, and we celebrate the proud history of the Indian people, who are the key to the bright future we are building together," he said.

"On behalf of the American people, I extend to the people of India best wishes on this important day. We stand with you in our shared commitment to tackle the most pressing global challenges to ensure the peace and prosperity of our peoples," Blinken said.

India is celebrating 77th Independence Day on Tuesday.
