Visva Bharati University, Army's Eastern Command sign MoU

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IBNS): Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan and Indian Army's Eastern Command signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Educational Cooperation at Fort William in Kolkata on Monday.

The agreement was signed by the Registrar on behalf of Visva Bharati and Brigadier General Staff(Training) on behalf of HQ Eastern Command.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command and senior officers from the Army including Lieutenant General Dushyant Singh, Chief of Staff HQ Eastern Command and Professor Swapan Dutta, Officiating Vice-Chancellor and senior representatives of Visva Bharati .

Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi thanked the Vice-Chancellor for making Eastern Command’s objectives into reality. 

Professor Swapan Dutta in turn thanked the Army for the opportunity and assured that the MoU will be the beginning of a long term relationship.

Visva Bharati and Army have a long standing association.

The current MoU for Educational Cooperation will facilitate close interaction between both organisations and promote academic exchange programmes, faculty exchange programmes, seminars, workshops and conferences on education.
