A 40-year-old woman was killed, while her daughter and sister were injured when a car was hit by a dumper in the Deorania area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said that Shifa, a resident of Rampur district, was undergoing treatment for a spine-related ailment in a medical college in Bareilly.

"Late on Friday night, while she was returning back to Rampur along with her daughter Babli, sister Zainab, and the driver, their car was hit by the dumper of the Nainital Highway," he said.

He said that while Shifa was killed in the incident, her daughter Babli and sister Zainab sustained serious injuries.

"The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The dumper driver managed to escape from the spot, but the vehicle has been impounded," he said.
