A 35-year-old woman was beaten to death by her husband allegedly on suspicion of having a relationship with a youth in Mill Area locality of Rae Bareli district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Tuesday.

Police sources said that accused Ram Vilas, a resident of Bhagu village, used to suspect the character of his wife Mithilesh.

"It is being said that on Monday evening when Ram Vilas came home a youth was present there. The accused lost control and started thrashing the youth," they said.

Police sources told UNI that when Mithilesh intervened Ram Vilas attacked her with a stick and killed her.

"A case has been lodged on the complaint of the deceased's brother and Ram Vilas has been taken into custody," they said.

Police sources said that the couple have four children.

"The body has been sent for postmortem examination," they said.
