A 32-year-old pregnant woman was beaten to death by her tenant over petty issue in Fursatganj area of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said.

The sources here said that Rinki, a resident of Raja Purvi village, was attacked with an iron bar by Harishchandra, who lived in her house.

"Rinki, who sustained serious head injuries, died on the spot," they said.

The sources also said that preliminary investigation has revealed that Rinki had a dispute with Harishchandra in the morning when she went to give him food.

"The deceased's husband Surendra has given a complaint against Harishchandra on which further action is being taken. The accused is absconding after the incident," they said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Harendra Kumar said that a team has been constituted to arrest the accused.
