Jaunpur, May 17 (UNI) Two young girls drowned while bathing in the Barsathi area of this district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

According to the police, Sarsara village resident Heeralal Bind's daughter Sanju Devi was visiting her parents' home. Sanju's daughter Mahima (7) had gone to a pond near the village along with her maternal uncle Mukesh Bind's daughter Priya aka Dimple (8) in the morning.

Because of the pond being deep and the girls not knowing how to swim, the duo drowned in the water which led to their death.

The dead bodies were handed over to the family by the police after a 'panchnama.'
