Uttar Pradesh: Man killed in attack by unidentified persons in Amethi

A man was killed and his sister-in-law was seriously injured after unidentified persons attacked them with sharp-edged weapons when they were asleep outside their house in Munshiganj area of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Monday.

The sources said that the incident took place in Manirampur village when Ram Sajeevan (55) and his sister-in-law Dhanraji (58) were sleeping in the verandah outside their house on Sunday night.

"They were attacked with sharp-edged weapons by unidentified persons killing Ram Sajeevan on the spot," they said.

Police sources also said that Dhanraji was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to the joint district hospital in Gauriganj from where she was referred to Lucknow in a serious condition.

"The body has been sent for postmortem examination and the matter is being investigated," they said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Elamaran G said that the family members have lodged a complaint against unidentified persons on the basis of which a case has been lodged and investigation is underway.
