Uttar Pradesh: Furniture trader killed in Deoria

Deoria, Nov 23 (UNI) The body of a furniture trader was found in the Sadar Kotwali area of this district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.

Additional Superintendent of Police Shishyapal here said Deoria Khas resident Rishikesh Sharma had a furniture shop in the Amethi village of the city where he used to reside.

On Friday night, some unidentified miscreants attacked him with an axe on his head killing him on the spot and fled. His body was found from his shop-cum-house, Saturday morning.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem and further investigation is underway.

The deceased trader had reportedly requested for an arms license for personal protection. It has also been reported that his father Upendra Sharma is a criminal and has several criminal cases registered against him.

Prima facie, police is investigating the case from all angles but also noting family issues and other matters.
