A security guard shot his wife dead allegedly over petty issue in Devipura area of Bulandshahr district here in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said here on Monday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said that Tejpal Verma, a resident of Devipura locality, works as a security guard.

"On Sunday night Tejpal shot his wife Sushila dead with his licenced rifle while she was talking to her relative over phone," he said.

He said that the deceased's son Himanshu Verma (18) has lodged a case against his father Tejpal.

"The deceased's son Himanshu has alleged that Tejpal used to thrash Sushila even when she used to talk with her sister or mother. He has alleged that Tejpal used to suspect the character of the deceased," he said.
