Uttar Pradesh and Bihar reel under flood, rain-respite for Assam

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): The flood situation in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar continues to be grim, according to media reports on Friday.

In Uttar Pradesh, most of the important rivers, including Ganga, Ghaghra, Rapti, Budi Rapti, Sharda and Kuwano, are flowing above or are at the danger mark, media reported.

As of Thursday, the deluge in Bihar has claimed 119 lives and caused extensive damage to property.

The Met office has predicted the possibility of more rains in southern Bihar over the next few days, according to media reports.

Rescue teams of NDRF have been rescuing people from the flood-hit zones on regular basis.

Following a respite from the rains, life in Assam is limping back to normal. The administration has also intensified its relief measures, media reported.
