UP: SP leader arrested in police encounter for making objectionable comment against PM Modi

Etawah: A Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, who is accused of making objectionable comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was arrested in an encounter with the police from Chaubiya area of Etawah district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar while confirming the arrest of SP leader Manish Yadav said that 19 cases, including that of murder, were lodged against him in different districts, including Etawah and Lucknow.

He said that a firearm along with cartridges was recovered from the possession of Yadav.

It may be noted that Manish Yadav made objectionable remarks against the PM after which a case was lodged against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and IT Act.
