UP: Six killed in road accident

Bahraich/UNI: At least six pilgrims were killed and 10 others were injured with five critical when a van collided with a stationary truck under Prayagpur police station area on Gonda-Bahraich highway early Monday morning.

Police here said that the people travelling on the van were coming from Kichaucha Sharif in Ambedkarnagar district and were returning to their Lakhimpur Kheri native place.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours. The van was carrying 16 people including the driver.

The injured were first taken to Prayagpur primary health centre and from there to Bahraich district hospital for treatment.

The deceased were identified as Chand Khan (51), Shakil(8), Sohan (50) and his wife(48), Salim(60) and the driver of the van.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the death of people in the road accident in Bahraich.

The CM has directed the authorities to provide adequate treatment to the injured people.
