UP: Five member of family buried alive after roof collapses in Mirzapur

Mirzapur/UNI: Five members of a family buried alive after the roof collapsed in Choti Gudri area under Kotwali police station area early Wednesday morning.

Police here said the family of five members were staying in a rented house. The roof of their rented room collapsed at around 3 am.

All the five bodies have been recovered by the police.

The deceased included a couple and their three children. It was also reported that now only a daughter of the family has survived as she was studying in Varanasi.

The deceased were identified as Umashanker (50), his wife Guddiya (48), their sons Subham(22) and Saurabh(18) and daughter Sandhya(20). Umashanker used to work as a water pump mechanic.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the incident and has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each of the deceased.
