UP CM Yogi Adityanath to expand cabinet on Monday

| @indiablooms | Aug 18, 2019, at 10:30 pm

Lucknow, Aug 18 (UNI) Much awaited cabinet expansion by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would take place on Monday.

All ministers have been summoned to Lucknow on Monday.

This would be the second cabinet expansion of Yogi-led BJP government.

There are presently 43 ministers in the state Council of ministers headed by Yogi Adityanath which includes 20 cabinet ministers including two Deputy CMs -- Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, nine Ministers of State with independent charges and 13 Ministers of State.

Yogi Adityanath cabinet took the oath of office on March 17, 2017 and then there were 24 cabinet ministers, 9 ministers with independent charge and 13 ministers of state.

Some ministers of state with independent charge are likely to be promoted as cabinet minister.

Speculations are rife that four to six ministers are likely to be axed against whom there are complaints of corruption while some are likely to be promoted.

BJP sources here on Sunday said that 8 to 12 new faces are likely to be inducted in the council of ministers headed by Yogi Adityanath.

The state BJP president Swatantradev Singh, who is also the minister of state of transport, is likely to resign as per the `one person one post’ principal practiced by the BJP.

BJP sources said the party president and Union home minister Amit Shah had summoned the chief minister Yogi Adityanath and party state president Swtantra Dev Singh to Delhi on Friday. The BJP working president JP Nadda was also present.

The BJP leaders had detailed deliberations on the probable names for the induction in the ministry. Sources said the BJP president has assigned the responsibility of choosing the day and date for the cabinet reshuffle to the chief minister Adityanath.

Among the names which are doing rounds for inclusion in the Cabinet are MLC Vijay Bahadur Pathak, Ashok Katariya, and Pankaj Singh, son of the Union defence minister Rajnath Singh.

It is also being speculated Ministers of State (MoS) Suresh Rana and Anupma Jaiswal might be promoted.

The cabinet reshuffle has been necessitated by the election of several ministers to Lok Sabha and expulsion of the Suheldeo Bhartiya Samaj party leader Om Prakash Rajbhar.
