UP CM Yogi Adityanath orders inquiry into Sambhal incident, announces ex-gratia

Lucknow/UNI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday ordered an inquiry into the cold storage accident at Chandausi area of Sambhal district and has announced financial assistance to the kin of the deceased, an official spokesman said here.

The spokesman said that the constituted committee is headed by Moradabad Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and it will probe into the causes of the accident and submit its report soon.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the cold storage accident, Yogi wished peace to the departed soul and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

He has directed the district administration officials to take the injured to the hospital immediately and provide them proper treatment.

The spokesman said that the CM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to those who sustained serious injuries in the accident. He has directed to provide free treatment of all the injured.

It may be noted that many people were buried under the debris after the roof of a cold store chamber collapsed on Thursday.

So far six bodies have been pulled out from the debris while 11 have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Relief and rescue work is still going on.
