Union Minister V K Singh faces protest in Kolkata
V K Singh came to Kolkata to launch the Hindi version of his autobiography and is staying in Raj Bhaban.
Demanding his resignation, a huge number of CPI-M supporters showed him black flag and shouted 'go back' at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU), Esplanade and Raj Bhaban in Kolkata on Sunday.
However, Kolkata Police have tightened security for V K Singh.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had recently filed a complaint against VK Singh for his "dog comment" on the killing of two Dalit children in an arson in a village in Haryana in a caste violence, even as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh warned party men to be cautious in their remarks.
Referring to the killing of two Dalit children in a house that was set on fire, Singh had said: "If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible. Don't connect the government with it. It was a feud between two families, the matter is under inquiry."
Soon after he created a stir with his controversial statement on the killing of two Dalit children in Faridabad, Union Minister VK Singh had apologised and issued a clarification.
Singh said he had not intended to draw an analogy between the Faridabad incident and stoning of a dog.
"My statement wasn't intended to draw an analogy. My men & I put our lives on the line 4 [for] the nation irrespective of caste, creed & religion," he tweeted.
