Junagadh/UNI: An around 30-year-old man here allegedly threw his three daughters in a well, killing them, before he committed suicide, as he was unhappy over the birth of his fourth girl child, police said on Thursday.

According to police, Gram Raksha Dal (GRD) jawan Rasik Devabhai Solanki, a native of Khambhalia village in Bhesan taluka was unhappy over the birth of his fourth daughter.

His wife was at her parent's place where almost a fortnight ago, she had given birth to the fourth daughter.

He took three of his daughters Riya (9), Anjali (7) and Jalpa (2) to a farm well this morning and pushed them into it.

He later consumed a poisonous liquid to kill self but when it failed, he hanged himself.

He was also living in abject poverty and perhaps willing to be father of a son, police said adding that it was a matter of investigation as to what exactly drove him to do this dastardly act.
