Two NDFB (S) militants killed in an encounter with police in Assam’s Kokrajhar

Guwahati/IBNS: Two militants of banned Bodo insurgent group National Democratic Front of Bodoland – Sangbijit (NDFB-S) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district along Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday night.

Security personnel had recovered AK-series rifle with magazine, ammunition from the slain militants.

According to the reports, the encounter took place at Basabil area under Gossaigaon police station.

Kokrajhar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajen Singh said that, based on intelligence input a team of Kokrajhar police with Commando had launched operation at Basabil area.

“When the police team noticed that, four persons in two motor bikes came from the Indo-Bhutan border side and asked them to stop, the bikers had started firing and police personnel also retaliated. Two militants were injured in the gun fight lasting around 10-15 minutes and they succumbed to their injuries at hospital,” Rajen Singh said.

Police team had also recovered AK-series rifle with magazine, ammunition from the slain militant duo and they are yet to be identified.
